As work continues on this ambitious state capitol building restoration, Grand Light is happy to share a deeper look into our finishing process and how we go about this sequence on large scale outdoor fixtures.
With fixtures of this scale, complexity, and numerous amount of parts, it’s critical to maintain a level of consistency between steps and thankfully, our professional artisans have no difficulty in holding each project to the Grand Light standard.
The finishing process begins with the careful preparation of specialized treatment and rinse solutions. Each component is immersed through a controlled sequence designed to develop the desired finish while maintaining consistency across all parts of the fixture.
Following treatment, the components are thoroughly rinsed, dried, and evaluated before being set aside to cure.
Once cured, each component is individually hand-finished by our artisans to achieve the desired level of depth, contrast, and highlighting. Surfaces are carefully refined, cleaned, and inspected throughout the process to ensure the finish accurately reflects the project’s restoration goals.
The completed components are then moved to our finishing booth, where multiple protective clear coats are applied to help preserve the newly restored surfaces.
After the finish has been fully protected, the fixture can be reassembled according to the original configuration using previously documented markings and assembly references. New glass and a custom LED Advantage retrofit solution are then installed, preparing the fixture for transport and eventual reinstallation.
