Grand Light was selected to restore the original interior chandeliers and pendant, and the exterior sconce and post top for the Dunster House. Some fixtures required sand blasting to remove old coats before multiple applications of a beautiful powder coat finish was applied.
Grand Light designed and fabricated thirty cast iron custom lanterns replicating the style of existing exterior lanterns. Each custom lantern received a statuary base coat before an application of black finish and multiple coats of UV resistant protective lacquer top coat.
Grand Light was selected to refinish the massive courthouse doors. These giant cast and plate doors are over 8 ft tall and are estimated to weigh well over 800 pounds each. The restoration of these doors included repairing and filling holes, removing all aged finish, and an application of a new custom red rust patina.
Grand Light was selected to restore the historic fixtures in the hall located on the Harvard University Campus in Cambridge, MA. There are several different types of fixtures ranging from chandeliers, wall sconces, ceiling mounted fixtures, pendant lights, and outdoor lanterns.
Grand Light was selected to restore the massive front entry lanterns to their original glory. These massive cast bronze fixtures are 65″ tall and 30″ wide and are estimated to weigh 400 pounds each when fully assembled. Grand Light created a special custom recipe to replicate the original red rust hot patina finish.
Grand Light was selected to restore the eleven original Exterior Lanterns at the West Point MacArthur Short Barracks. Fixtures required major structural repair, replication of missing components, and much patina blending to give the fixtures a consist luster.
Grand Light restored several interior luminaires as well as three luminaires from the nearby Oil House for the of the historic Bodie Island Lighthouse in Nags Head, NC. Each luminaire was refinished and installed with new water-tight custom laser-cut gaskets and rebuilt rare porcelain sockets.
Grand Light was selected to restore six antique iron pendants and seven wall sconces from Yale University's Timothy Dwight College. Each luminaire was carefully media blasted to remove the original finish, internally rewiring to adhere with UL specifications, repaired, and refinished.
