Miss Porter's School is a historic and revered girl's college preparatory private school that is currently undergoing a renewal project with the dining room's multiple large chandeliers set to be restored by Grand Light.
Grand Light is restoring large cast iron exterior lighting standards and a cast iron street clock from the New London City Hall. Metal components will be media blasted, primed, and painted along with multiple applications of a UV resistance protective lacquer top coat for a Verdi antique bronze finish.
Grand Light is restoring numerous highly decorative and historic pottery ceiling lights from the historic Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel in Yellowstone National Park. These fixtures will undergo several different restoration techniques including removal of the existing finish and refinishing.
Grand Light was selected to restore the original interior chandeliers and pendant, and the exterior sconce and post top for the Dunster House. Some fixtures required sand blasting to remove old coats before multiple applications of a beautiful powder coat finish was applied.
Grand Light designed and fabricated thirty cast iron custom lanterns replicating the style of existing exterior lanterns. Each custom lantern received a statuary base coat before an application of black finish and multiple coats of UV resistant protective lacquer top coat.
Grand Light was selected to restore the original exterior lanterns located on the IRS Headquarters. Each lantern was mechanically repaired, any missing parts were replicated by using the existing as models and each component was bead blasted and refinished.
Grand Light was selected to refinish the massive 8 ft tall, 800+lbs courthouse doors. The restoration of these doors included repairing and filling holes, removing all aged finish, and an application of a new custom red rust patina.
Grand Light was selected to design and fabricate lanterns that compliment the surroundings, illuminate the entry gates, and remain true to the ambiance created by the existing architecture of Yale University's Silliman College.
Grand Light was selected to restore and replicate the lighting fixtures from the historic Geyser Hall at the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park. These fixtures included 148 gothic-style pendant luminaires, of which 28 were replicated, as well as 40 larger luminaires of the same style.
Grand Light designed and fabricated six custom exterior pole mounted fixtures to match existing outdoor fixtures. The original fixtures specifications, originally designed by a park technician, were used to create a shop drawing to accurately depict measurements and details.
