Yellowstone National Park Custom Exterior Lighting Complete
Yellowstone National Park, located primarily in Wyoming, spans an area of 3,468.4 square miles comprising of lakes, canyons, rivers, and mountain ranges. Yellowstone was proposed by Congress and signed into law as The Act of Dedication by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872. Considered widely to be the first national park in the word, Yellowstone has been administered by the National Park Service since 1917. Today, Yellowstone is the largest remaining ecosystem on Earth’s northern temperate zone and has been protected for its ecological, historical, architectural, and archaeological significance.
Grand Light designed and fabricated six custom exterior pole mounted fixtures to match existing outdoor fixtures. The original fixtures specifications, originally designed by a park technician, were used to create a shop drawing to accurately depict measurements and details. Once the client approved the drawing, these exterior pole lights were constructed using fabricated aluminum components. Grind marks present on the pre-finish fixtures required Grand Light artisans to remove these marks and prepare the surface for a flat black powder coat finish. Each custom exterior pole light received multiple coats of UV resistant protective lacquer top coat.

Using a combination of original fixture’s design specs and photographs, a Shop Drawing was drafted for use in fabricating the custom exterior pole mounted fixtures. A shop drawing is essential in making an accurate depiction of dimensions and details in order to move forward with the casting of aluminum components.
