Grand Light artisans have been hard at work this holiday season restoring 200+ historic lighting fixtures simultaneously from two renowned historical building renovation projects.
During initial factory evaluations it was discovered that numerous wall sconces, chandeliers, pendant and ceiling lights had a custom silver and antiqued black finish that had denigrated over the years. Using a combination of different restoration techniques, our artisans were able to replicate and restore this unique original finish.
These projects also included over forty large, hand forged iron wall sconces. The restoration included disassembly and media blasting the existing iron surface in preparation of a new custom metal oil and black antique gold finish.
Each fixture received multiple applications of UV protective metal oil top coating containing binders, rust, and UV inhibitors. Artisans hand applied a custom black antiqued gold finish to decorative leaf, scroll, and crest components adding a stark, aesthetically pleasing look.
